Aims of Module
To provide students with an understanding and awareness of digital literacy within their own professional practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critique the definitions, components and application of digital literacy in health and social care.
2 Appraise the challenges and opportunities of digital health innovations in relation to digital literacy within their own professional practice.
3 Analyse the impact of service change management within their own professional practice, in terms of innovative digital technologies.
4 Make informed judgement about information governance, data handling and protecting personal information relating to their own professional practice.

Indicative Module Content
Digital health and care literacy; interdependency of digital and health literacies and capabilities; leading change; innovation: workforce development of digital literacy of health professionals, patients, citizens and industry in health promotion, workforce capability, innovative digital technologies, components and strategies of eHealth, accessible and secure digital records, electronic information and communication technologies, digital participation projects, service change management, co-production and co-design, and information governance and cybersecurity, big data, Artificial intelligence, GDPR.

Module Delivery
Full-time: Blended learning approach including on campus tutorials supplemented by online learning. Part-time: Delivered via Moodle with online tutorials and asynchronous discussions.
