What is a Student Rep and what do they do?

As a Student Representative you are the representative of your class.

The main thrust of the Student Rep’s job is to gather the views of their classmates and convey these constructively at University meetings and to staff members.

All Schools hold Staff-Student Liaison meetings each Semester to discuss any issues arising and these meetings are your opportunity to put forward your class’ views on the learning and teaching they are receiving. These meetings discuss how the course is going generally and consider any issues arising from student feedback.

During your time as a Student Rep you will also be invited to other meetings with other Student Representatives, with the Head of your School and/or the Dean of your Faculty to make sure that at all levels the University is able to understand and react to what being a student is like.

At each of these meetings your role is simple: to make sure that committee members know what it is like to be a student and to pass on information about your experience.

As a Student Rep you have the following specific responsibilities:
