The Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC)
The Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care was established on April 1st 2000. It is funded by the Scottish Executive and is a partnership of the University of Strathclyde, The Robert Gordon University, Who Cares? Scotland, Langside College and Save the Children Fund. The aim of the Institute is to ensure that residential child care staff throughout Scotland have access to the skills and knowledge they require to meet the needs of the children and young people in their care.

Vocational Training
Vocational training takes the form of two nationally recognised qualifications - the HNC in Social Care incorporating SVQ Level III and the HNC in Social Care - and is available to employees in residential child care, each course having a dedicated residential child care component, attendance being by day release over a period of 2 years.
