Through the undertaking of research in a real work environment, to develop skills and intellectual ability relevant to the investigation, assessment, evaluation and interpretation of an industry-relevant subject. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Use a systematic approach to information acquisition and retrieval using the full range of available search techniques |
2 | Critically analyse principal theoretical and professional concepts, ideas and other information to demonstrate originality/creativity within an industry context. |
3 | Conduct a critical review of the literature appropriate to the industry-relevant topic under investigation to extend pertinent knowledge. |
4 | Develop a focused aims statement and formulate an appropriate methodology for testing. |
5 | Evidence critical knowledge skills and present in a coherent, well-structured and intelligible Research Document written to professional standards. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
The content of the work experience will vary between employers. The student will negotiate with their host organisation regarding obtaining relevant data and information to support the research. |
Module Delivery |
---|
Delivery is through a combination of time spent in the workplace, completion of a structured research methods programme (module completed prior to commencing the work experience), and support will be available through the provision of a research supervisor and an online forum. |
