On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Identify and critically appraise a range of appropriate management solutions to scenarios on a simulated large scale construction project. |
2 | Critically analyse contractual conflict and evaluate the resulting time and cost impact on project delivery and profitability. |
3 | Formulate and assemble analytical financial reports and accompanying presentations to provide a range of commercial management solutions for the project scenario. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
This module will investigate the nature and role of the Commercial Manager in large scale construction projects. The context for this project module is the post contract phase of construction and how the Commercial Manager ensures quality project delivery to a target profit. Students will investigate the impact of disruption and conflict and will apply methods of conflict avoidance/ dispute resolution techniques to resolve this. Students will investigate the impact of BIM and current associated technologies on the successful delivery of the project. Student output will be in the form of professional level cost/financial reports. Collaborative, communication and presentation skills will be considered. |
