Aims of Module
To enable the student to work in a practical environment, to consolidate and broaden their knowledge gained in academic studies.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate the necessary skills in the following areas: * Technical and Learning Skills * Staff Relations Skills * Planning and Organisational Skills * Personal and Professional Skills * Communication Skills
2 Review their own strengths and weaknesses as a potential professional person.
3 Assess the structure and the function of the organisation in which they are placed and critically evaluate the factors which affect its performance.
4 Review the theories, skills, models, concepts and principles acquired in their studies to date in the workplace.

Indicative Module Content
The content of the industrial placement will vary. However, each student will draw up an agreed learning contract with the host organisation and devise a programme which will enable the learning outcomes to be achieved. For professional and practical reasons students are expected to complete a minimum of 600 hours during their industrial placement.

Module Delivery
Delivery is by means of supervised on-the-job training. In addition, students may be required to attend staff development workshops as designated by the host organisation.

Description: Industrial placement portfolio which will vary depending on each students' learning outcomes but provides evidence of placement work and professionalism.

Explanatory Text
The module is assessed on a pass/fail basis. The Module Grade is based on a submission of a Portfolio as detailed in the assessment plan. Non-submission will result in an NS grade.

NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

Module Requirements
Prerequisites for Module Students must have normally completed 240 SCQF credits from Stage 1, Stage 2.
Corequisites for module None.
Precluded Modules SU3504 Exchange Programme and SU3039 Professional Practice Simulation; SU3502 Work Place Simulation

ADDITIONAL NOTES
To successfully pass this module students are expected to complete a minimum of 600 hours during their industrial placement.
