Aims of Module | |||

To provide the student with the necessary skills and knowledge to estimate and price construction work activities and carry out effective post-contract commercial management of a construction project. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Assess the overall tendering process from initial inquiry to tender submission and assess and analyse routine methods of contractors estimating. |
2 | Demonstrate the techniques used by contractors in the estimating process to determine the cost implications of construction operations. |
3 | Demonstrate financial processes used to manage and control costs post contract. |
4 | Review the core contents of the module and relate these to application within the workplace. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
This module will provide the student with a working knowledge of the methods and techniques adopted for financial forecasting and control of a construction project from the tender stage through to completion. |
Module Delivery |
---|
The module is delivered in Blended Learning mode using structured online learning materials/activities and directed study, facilitated by regular online tutor support. Workplace Mentor support and work-based learning activities will allow students to contextualise this learning to their own workplace. Face-to-face engagement occurs through annual induction sessions, employer work- site visits, and modular on-campus workshops. |
