Aims of Module
To develop the ability to recognise, at an appropriate level, the factors contributing to project complexity and respond to that complexity by selecting creative and effective project management.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Differentiate complex and non-complex projects in comparison to traditional and functional management.
2 Examine viable solutions to the performance and productivity issues specific to complex projects.
3 Assess the application of standards for project health, safety, welfare, environment and quality management.
4 Critically review the core contents of the module and relate to their application within the work place including ethical, professional, and sustainable practices and professional attributes.

Indicative Module Content
The module will consider all issues related to complex projects inculding success factors, resources, teams, and engagments. Participants will consider integration management, scope managment, time management, cost managment, human resource management, procurement management, quality, risk, and communication managment from the perspective of complex project and initiate and develop appropriate solutions for the benefit of the project, collaborative working, social and environmental impact.

Module Delivery
The module is delivered in Blended Learning mode using structured online learning materials/activities and directed study, facilitated by regular online tutor support. Workplace Mentor support and work-based learning activities will allow students to contextualise this learning to their own workplace. Face-to-face engagement occurs through annual induction sessions, employer work-site visits, and modular on-campus workshops.
