Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to select and use problem solving skills in a simulated commercial environment

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Propose a range of appropriate technological and management solutions applicable to a simulated commercial property development.
2 Perform individual and group work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the context of building design and development.
3 Organise, undertake and compile structured reports and accompanying presentations in a variety of built environment contexts.

Indicative Module Content
This module will investigate the nature and role property professionals in commercial property situations. Synthesis and presentation of solutions for project design and management in a context, which simulates professional practice. Feasibility studies for commercial property development, preparation of business cases, methods and cost of finance, procurement and operation will be undertaken. Interpersonal, communication and presentation skills will be considered.

Module Delivery
This is a module predominantly involving practical work in relation to a project which may include, surveying, field and studio work and where appropriate site visits. Directed study to core texts and resource material will be encouraged.

Description: The module is assessed by portfolio, at the end of the semester, which comprises of a professional practice report compiled from a combination of group and individual work.
