Aims of Module | |||

To provide critical understanding of the models and techniques employed in child protection, child care and criminal justice, with a clear focus on the assessment of risk, statutory duties and responsibilities in fieldwork and other settings. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Appraise the legislative, professional and procedure frameworks relative to the user groups concerned. |
2 | Evaluate the statutory duties and roles of social work within the user groups concerned. |
3 | Appraise conceptual knowledge, theory and understanding underpinning identified best practice for the user groups concerned. |
4 | Evidence critical awareness of the relevance of evidence-informed practice approaches, taking account of relevant comparative research. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Methods, models and issues pertaining to children and families, and those who offend. Evidence based practice in such contexts. The necessary process and techniques for evaluating their own practice and that of others. The content also reflects the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements around engagement with public protection. |

The module is delivered through a range of lectures, seminars and workshops with an emphasis on case material and will be delivered by both RGU staff and selected practitioners. |
