Aims of Module
To provide students with supervised assessed practice and the tools to reflect analytically and self critically thereon within the precepts of best and evidence based practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Evidence the capacity to critically analyse and reflect on their own practice.
2 Recognise and critically analyse the implications of their needs for continuing professional development.
3 Provide an informed critical analysis of the financial, legal, social policy and organisational contexts in relation to, and as they apply to the practice setting.
4 Demonstrate competence in direct practice skills as required by the SSSC in a manner appropriate for a Stage 2 student.

Indicative Module Content
Self critical, informed and reflective analysis of practice in the contexts in which it has been conducted. The content also reflects the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements around engagement with public protection.

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
This module has two components - Component 1 is assessed by an essay and Component 2 is assessed by a pass/fail in the placement. A pass is required in Component 2 prior to undertaking Component 1.

A A Grade in Component 1 and Pass in Component 2
B B Grade in Component 1 and Pass in Component 2
C C Grade in Component 1 and Pass in Component 2
D D Grade in Component 1 and Pass in Component 2
E E Grade in Component 1 and/or Fail in Component 2
F F Grade in Component 1 and/or Fail in Component 2
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

ADDITIONAL NOTES
Students undertake 90 days of supervised agency based assessed practice experience. Component 2 must be passed prior to undertaking Component 1.
