To develop independence in the application of the research process and to integrate the use of the research process into clinical practice. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Independently execute a detailed research study in a specific area relevant to the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. |
2 | Critically evaluate relevant literature, concepts and theories and data (primary or secondary) relevant to the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy. |
3 | Synthesise evidence based arguments to inform professional practice. |
4 | Critically evaluate and reflect on any ethical implications or issues encountered while conducting the research study. |
5 | Critically evaluate findings and conclusions in relation to the advancement or contribution to the body of knowledge in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Synthesis and integration of critical analysis of literature, critical discrimination between, and reasoned choice of, different research methodologies for different purposes, ethical issues in research, data collection and analysis. |
Module Delivery |
---|
Problem solving tutorials, seminars. Each student will be allocated a project supervisor from whom they will receive tutorial support and relevant advice. The meetings will be initiated by the student and the supervisor will act as a facilitator. |
