Aims of Module
To demonstrate competence in research methodology by undertaking independent research on an approved topic relevant to Applied Psychology.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Research and review the literature on a research topic and produce a research proposal.
2 Critically evaluate and apply appropriate research skills and analysis in relation to the agreed topic.
3 Demonstrate research management skills at an appropriate level.
4 Produce a critical and logical interpretation of their research in the form of a written dissertation.

Indicative Module Content
Student-led independent research under academic supervision to include: Philosophy of research, Literature review, Design and preparation of a research project and collection of data, Quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques, Submission of Dissertation.

Module Delivery
This is a practical module devoted to research in an agreed field and may involve a wide range of techniques. Distance learning delivery will be through self-directed study from web-based learning materials. Students will be assigned a dissertation supervisor for further guidance and support
