Aims of Module
To enable the student to critically evaluate advanced theories and empirical data relating to human development throughout the lifespan. To critically discuss the application and impact of developmental psychological theories

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the application of developmental psychological theories to human behaviour across the lifespan.
2 Critically examine the role of empirical evidence in understanding human development.
3 Critically discuss the historical and cultural influences on developmental psychological theories.

Indicative Module Content
Cognitive, emotional and social development during infancy. Developmental research methodology. Educational applications. Development and implications of theories of mind. Childhood Psychopathology. Psychological aspects of ageing.
