Aims of Module | |||

To provide the student with a critical understanding of the biological bases of behaviour and the reciprocal relationship between the brain and behaviour. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Understand the neural mechanisms of behaviour and critically evaluate the influence of evolution, and the interplay between the environment and genetics. |
2 | Critically evaluate key research in biological psychology. |
3 | Critically examine how research in biological psychology can contribute to the understanding of cognitive function, health and illness. |
Indicative Module Content |

The biological foundations of human behaviour. Evolution. The basic structures of the brain and their underlying functions . The link between neuropathology and cognitive/behavioural functions. Emotions. Learning and memory . Eating behaviours. Drug-related behaviour. Cognition. Sexual behaviour. Behavioural disorders. Learning difficulties. |
