Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To provide students with professional practical experience upon which to apply critical, evidence based reflection and analysis. To enable students to locate such reflection and analysis within the necessary frameworks (ethical, practice, legal and structural). |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Provide credible, critical and reflective analysis of their own practice drawing on relevant social work and social science theory. |
2 | Evidence an understanding of the role and context of their practice within a legal and policy framework. |
3 | Consider issues of discrimination and oppression in relation to the practice setting. |
4 | Demonstrate the ability to reflect on their use of self in practice. |
5 | Demonstrate competence in direct practice skills as required by the SSSC in a manner appropriate for a Stage 1 student. |
Indicative Module Content |

Supervised practice. Self reflective, evidence based practice. The content also reflects, where appropriate, the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements of the Key Capabilities in Child Care and Protection (Scottish Executive 2006). |

Students undertake 80 days of supervised agency-based assessed practice experience and will demonstrate, contingent on the nature of the agency's role and function, either/both Key Capabilities 1 or 2 in Child Care and Child Protection. |
