Aims of Module
To enable the student, with reference to direct practice experiences, to reflect critically on the process of risk assessment and risk management, and their own personal and professional development.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically analyse the process of risk assessment with reference to direct practice.
2 Critically reflect on how to balance the rights and responsibilities of individuals with the associated risks to them or the wider public.
3 Evaluate approaches to risk management with reference to direct practice.
4 Critically reflect on personal and professional development, including future learning needs and the application of social work values, resulting from undertaking the placement.

Indicative Module Content
Direct practice experiences which will allow the student the opportunity to reflect, apply, and integrate a range of values and theories to social work practice. The student will draw from theory, practice and research of the subject matter and meet the expectations and knowledge requirement of engagement with public protection.

Knowledge, skills and experience will be gained through engagement with the stage 4 practice learning placement.
