Aims of Module

To enable students to develop their skill in selecting, applying and evaluating their own social work practice within policy contexts.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Critically analyse models of assessment and intervention used in their practice.
2. Critically analyse and reflect upon practice.
3. Appraise and discuss developments in best practice in social work.

Indicative Module Content

Models of interventions in relation to own practice
Principles, methods and application of evaluative processes
Self critical and reflective analysis of own practice using criteria derived from reputable sources
Understanding of evidence-based practice and how it might influence practice
Critically applied knowledge of recent developments in best practice/national directives
