Aims of Module | |||

1 | Apply a knowledge of research methods to the design a research project |
2 | Carry out a research based literature review and/or primary research to address their research question(s) |
3 | Write up a dissertation which critically evaluates their research findings and their implications for practice |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Advanced web/literature searching, time management, recording, data handling. Dissertation writing skills; presentation skills, structuring, drafting/editing. Research in Practice; informing and evaluating social work practice. Critical writing. The module is delivered and underpinned by a commitment to core social work values of respect, individualisation, empowerment, anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive principles and upholds the values and ethical practice standards that reflect the requirements relating to engagement with public protection |

Workshops. Each student will be allocated a dissertation supervisor from whom he/she will receive tutorial support and advice. The meetings will be initiated by the student and the supervisor will act as facilitator. ODL and web-based material |
