Aims of Module
To promote awareness of the significance and potential of the milieu as a therapeutic environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Analyse the nature of therapeutic relationships with children and families.
2 Analyse the processes which facilitate and hinder the development of a therapeutic milieu.
3 Evaluate a therapeutic intervention within children and families practice.

Milieu Therapy. Behavioural Therapy. Play Therapy. Art Therapy. Music Therapy. Drama Therapy. Family Therapy. Ethnic Practice. Culture and Structure. Therapeutic Photography. Supervision and Support. Training and Qualifications Team building and team cohesion. Consultancy. Social Pedagogy/UK Therapeutic Practice/N American CYC. Reflects the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements around engagement with public protection.

Module Delivery
Full Time This module is a mixture of lectures and workshops combined with student centred learning studies. Distance Learning This module is based on directed and private study supplemented by lectures and tutorials. Introductory lectures are linked to course materials. Directed and private study is supported by tutorials.
