Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
To facilitate the student's ability to evaluate critically the concept of psychological disorders, and the alternative approaches to mental health. To enable the student to apply a deep knowledge and understanding of the most prevalent forms of psychopathology, their symptoms, aetiologies and treatments. |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Demonstrate a critical understanding of the principal theories, concepts and principles in contemporary approaches to psychological disorders. |
2 | Critically conceptualise complex/professional problems and issues with diagnosis formulation and treatment. |
3 | Demonstrate a critical understanding of the principal theories and concepts surrounding diagnosis and the symptoms and possible aetiology of a range of psychological disorders |
4 | Critically evaluate wider literature and consolidate knowledge surrounding the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders by discussing wider conceptual issues and implications of diagnosis and treatment strategies. |
