| On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
| 1 | Critically discuss the framework within which forensic toxicologists and forensic drug analysts work. |
| 2 | Demonstrate problem solving skills in the principles and methodologies used in drug analysis and toxicological investigations. |
| 3 | Critically discuss the wider social, economic and (sub)cultural relations from which drug use emerges. |
| 4 | Critically discuss a variety of responses to drug use in society. |
| Indicative Module Content |
|---|
| Definition of poisons and poisoning; study of the time-dose relationship and ADME. Case studies, interpretation of results and pharmacokinetics; Substances of abuse; legislation classification, interpretation, sampling, presentation, expert evidence screening and confirmation analysis. County lines dealing, dark web, socialisation, youth subcultures, disorganised crime, inequality, deprivation, gender, models of drug uses, patterns and trends of substance use. |
