Aims of Module
To provide a case study experience which will enable the student to demonstrate competence in the SSSC requirements contained in the Standards in Social Work Education document in a manner appropriate for a level 3 student.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Appraise knowledge of contemporary social policy and legislative issues and relate these to the organisational structures concerned with service delivery.
2 Apply an appropriate range of theory to an assessment of a service user.
3 Reflect on assessment, including analysis of risk.
4 Critically discuss knowledge of structural oppression, cultural diversity, and social exclusion with comment on how they impact on the lives and circumstances of service users.

Indicative Module Content
Case study which will allow the student the opportunity to reflect, apply, and integrate a range of values and theories to social work practice. The student will draw from theory, previous practice and research of the subject matter and meet the expectations and knowledge requirement of engagement with public protection.
