Aims of Module
To provide practice experiences which will enable the student to demonstrate competence in the SSSC requirements contained in the Standards in Social Work Education document in a manner appropriate for a level 3 student.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Explain, apply, justify and evaluate a range of social work methods.
2 Critically appraise strategies to deal with ethical issues, dilemmas and conflicts resulting from undertaking the period of practice learning.
3 Reflect on personal and professional learning and development from practice learning, including role of supervision.
4 Demonstrate competence in direct practice skills as required by the SSSC in a manner appropriate for a level 3 student.

Indicative Module Content
Direct practice experiences which will allow the student the opportunity to reflect, apply, and integrate a range of values and theories to social work practice. The student will draw from theory, practice and research of the subject matter and meet the expectations and knowledge requirement of engagement with public protection.

Explanatory Text
This module has two components - Component 1 is assessed by a presentation and Component 2 is a pass/fail on a placement report from the students Practice Teacher following a period of direct practice.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A A for Component 1 and a pass for Component 2
B B for Component 1 and a pass for Component 2
C C for Component 1 and a pass for Component 2
D D for Component 1 and a pass for Component 2
E E for Component 1 and/or a fail for Component 2
F F for Component 1 and/or a fail for Component 2
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

Prerequisites for Module Satisfactory completion of all Stage 2 modules.
Corequisites for module None.
Precluded Modules None.
