To enable students to apply research techniques to project management and to analyse the relationship between research and social work practice. |

1 | Produce a literature review relevant to the research project topic. |
2 | Apply a knowledge of research methods to the design, analysis and writing of a research project. |
3 | Analyse the relationship between research and social work practice. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Review of research methods. Application of research to social work practice. Evaluating practice. Applying statistics and data analysis - quantitative and qualitative. Advanced literature searching. Planning research. Reflects the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements around engagement with public protection. |

The module is based on core lectures and supporting seminar and discussion work. It also requires students to undertake critical reading of relevant journals. |
