Aims of Module
To enable the student to demonstrate an ability to apply relevant theory to practice and reflect critically on their practice skills with regard to values, knowledge, assessment and intervention.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Evaluate the legislative and social policy that underpin the work with service users on placement.
2 Identify and analyse work with a service user making specific reference to assessment and social work methods.
3 Critically analyse the challenges of inter professional practice within your placement setting.
4 Demonstrate competence in direct practice skills as required by the SSSC in a manner appropriate for student completing a first period of assessed practice learning.

Indicative Module Content
Social work placement experiences which will allow the student the opportunity to relect, apply and integrate a range of values and theories to social work practice. The student’s practice learning should reflect the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements relating to engagement with public protection as appropriate to the practice setting.

MODULE PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTOR
Explanatory Text
This module has two components - Component 1 is assessed by an essay with 50% weighting and Component 2 is assessed by a pass/fail of the placement, also with a 50% weighting. Students will undertake Component 1 following successful completion of placement.
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
A A in Component 1 and a Pass in Component 2.
B B in Component 1 and a Pass in Component 2.
C C in Component 1 and a Pass in Component 2.
D D in Component 1 and a Pass in Component 2.
E E in Component 1 and/or fail in Component 2.
F F in Compnent1 and/or fail in Component 2.
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination

ADDITIONAL NOTES
With regard to the Indicative Student Workload, the student will be working in an agency setting for appoximately 360 hours during the placement period. The length of placements is prescribed by the SSSC.
