Aims of Module
To enable the student to critically evaluate advanced theories and empirical data relating to development throughout the lifespan. To discuss psychological explanations of developmental psychopathology.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate critical understanding of developmental theories and research relating to key aspects of development across lifespan.
2 Critically evaluate theories and empirical research relating to key aspects of development across lifespan.
3 Synthesise research findings in order to analyse major aspects of psychological functioning across lifespan.

Indicative Module Content
Developmental research methodology. Cognitive development. Language development: debates and issues. Social and emotional development. Educational applications. Theory of mind. Childhood Psychopathology and neurodiversity. Culture and coloniality in human development . Psychological aspects of functioning in older people.
