Aims of Module
To utilise the placement opportunity to apply the theory and knowledge base to practice through purposeful activities. To engage in reflection on use of self, relationships and personal and professional growth over the practice experience.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Apply reflective skills to practice.
2 Apply purposefully theory and creative interventions in practice.
3 Identify the depth and quality of relationships developed throughout the duration of the placement.
4 Identify and plan for further personal and professional growth.

Indicative Module Content
Purposeful activity. Communication. Theory, practice and reflection on use of self. Values. Evidence based practice. Mentoring and supervision. Expectations and knowledge of the professional, personal and private domains of practice. Ethical and professional dilemmas. Developing learning cultures. Involving children and young people in feedback. Developing specialised skills. Social pedagogic and relational understanding of working within the Life Space/ group care. Safe care. Codes of practice. Innovation and change. Law and social policy. Continuing professional development. Inter-disciplinary practice. Developing practice. Workforce development.

Module Delivery
This module is based on directed and private study supplemented by lectures and tutorials and is associated with a period of direct learning in practice. Introductory lectures are linked to course materials.
