To provide the student with the knowledge and understanding of the relationship between contemporary society and welfare services across the life span.

Social pedagogical theory and context. Social policy, law, politics and society. Personal social services, education, health and housing. History of residential care services. Disability and human rights across the life course. Social exclusion. Social construction. Social Justice. Inter-disciplinary practice. Values. Codes of conduct.
