| On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
| 1 | Demonstrate introductory knowledge of the civil law systems. |
| 2 | Demonstrate introductory knowledge and understanding of criminal law. |
| 3 | Demonstrate introductory knowledge of laws which provide the legal basis for social work intervention. |
| Indicative Module Content |

| Civil and criminal court systems. Children's and family legal systems. Basic rules of evidence. Confidentiality and Access to Records. Anti-discriminatory law. Basic law relating to social work practice. This module is a generic introduction to social work law. There is a specific focus on key matters which reflects requirements relating to engagement with public protection. In addition coverage of human rights and anti-discriminatory legislation, vulnerable witnesses, confidentiality and data protection. |
