Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to understand theories relating to the development of personality and behaviour throughout the human lifespan.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Evaluate a range of theories demonstrating an understanding of emotional development taking into consideration those factors which may be pathological and those which may promote resilience.
2 Apply the concepts of Loss and Change.
3 Apply Psychodynamic and Systems Concepts related to adult partnerships and family life.

Indicative Module Content
Theories of development- Physical, Life Cycle, Object Relations, Attachment, Loss and Change, Mourning and Bereavement, Relationships, Adult Partnerships, Families and Resilience Reflects the knowledge, skills and professional confidence and competence requirements around engagement with public protection.

Module Delivery
Core concepts will be delivered by lecture. Seminars will be used for discussion and application. Students are also required to undertake formative case studies and reading of relevant material.
