Aims of Module
To provide students with an understanding of and ability to apply, a range of theories relating to the development of personality and behaviour throughout the human lifespan. To take into how human development can be impacted by diversity and difference.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate an applied understanding of developmental theories with recognition of how issues of diversity and difference can impact human development.
2 Discuss different concepts of how people manage loss and achieve change.
3 Show an understanding of psychodynamic theory and systems concepts which relate to adult partnerships and family life.

Indicative Module Content
Theories of human development which apply to a variety of social work settings: including Life Cycle, Attachment, Identity, Loss and Change, Mourning and Bereavement, Relationships, Adult Partnerships, Families and Resilience

Module Delivery
Core concepts will be delivered by interactive lectures. Seminars will be used for discussion and application. Students are also required to engage with case studies and the reading of relevant material.
