To provide the student with the ability to define the discipline of sociology and understand sociological application in the study of society. |

3 | Make appropriate use of sociological evidence relating to a particular issue |

The scope of sociology; Key features of contemporary society; The scope of social theory; Social class and inequality; Gender and inequality; Ethnicity and inequality; Consumerism and its social significance; social media and network society; society and the environment. |
Module Delivery |

This is a mainly lecture based module with supporting seminars/workshops and student-centred learning. The on-campus activities will be supplemented and supported with online activities where appropriate. |
