Aims of Module
To provide the student with the ability to understand the nature of psychology and the lifespan processes using relevant theories and concepts.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Recognise individual differences and thinking.
2 Explain psychological theories and empirical evidence in relation to the lifespan.

Indicative Module Content
Introduction to Psychology. Intelligence. Theories of personality. Psychological theories of development. Introduction to cognitive and social development. Personality development. The specific child centred components of the module reflect the knowledge requirements within the Key Capabilities in Child Care and Protection (Scottish Executive, 2006)
