Aims of Module
To enable students to develop research skills required to conduct and evaluate a healthcare research project.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate relevant literature to inform research design.
2 Design an independent research project.
3 Produce a report outlining the entire research project.
4 Take responsibility for the conclusions through appropriate defence presentation.

Indicative Module Content
Research methods including qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, service improvement and service development methodology, study design types, literature reviews, critical appraisal skills, systematic reviews, research governance and ethical considerations, survey methods, questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, sample size and sampling, data collection, statistical analysis. Global citizenship in healthcare research.

Module Delivery
Online delivery; self-directed learning supported by web-based learning materials and project supervisor, peer to peer learning, participation in synchronous and asynchronous webinars.
