Aims of Module
To enable students to develop an understanding of person centred care.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Identify and analyse barriers and facilitators to their own provision of person centred care.
2 Critically explore elements contributing to individuals' engagement with their own health.
3 Critically evaluate aspects contributing to shared decision making and the establishment of effective therapeutic partnerships.

Indicative Module Content
Structures, processes and outcomes associated with the provision of person centred care. Person centred care and values; engaging patients and carers; equality, diversity and inclusion; health beliefs, including consideration of culture and religion; shared decision making; establishing therapeutic partnerships and concordance; social prescribing; healthcare systems and complexity; effective team working; patient safety; human factors; understanding and learning from errors; managing risk, improving medication safety, polypharmacy.

Module Delivery
Online delivery; self-directed learning supported by web-based learning materials, peer to peer learning, participation in synchronous and asynchronous webinars and discussion fora.
