Aims of Module
To integrate and apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to implement evidence-based therapeutics and the integration of these into therapeutic plans for individual patients.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the pathophysiology, pharmacology and evidence-based therapeutics of commonly occurring disease states.
2 Synthesise appropriate therapeutic strategies in relation to a range of diseases
3 Justify effective drug and non-drug interventions for improving the health of patients and clients.
4 Consult effectively to gather relevant information from patients to develop patient centred health outcomes.

Indicative Module Content
Integration of the scientific principles and clinical skills required to develop evidence based therapeutic plans for individual patients. Topics include: differentiation between minor illness and major disease including gastrointestinal and respiratory systems, skin, acute pain, womens' health, child health, eyes and ear, sexual health.

Module Delivery
This module is delivered with a mix of lectures and case study-based tutorials and practical lab sessions, supplemented by formative self-assessment.

To pass this module, the student must achieve a PASS in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
Module Grade Minimum Requirements to achieve Module Grade:
Pass A pass in the OSCE.
Fail An unsuccessful attempt at the OSCE.
NS Non-submission of work by published deadline or non-attendance for examination
