Aims of Module
To provide experience in research methodology and analysis by the generation of original data in an area related to pharmacy. To evaluate, present and defend research results.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Apply information retrieval techniques to access relevant published data and prepare a critical literature review.

Critically appraise and develop a research proposal and define a feasible research plan.
|
3. |
Identify, critically evaluate and apply a range of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods appropriate to the research area.

4. |
Analyse, interpret and evaluate research data.
|
5. |
Demonstrate professional competence in written and oral presentation skills and by oral defence of the research dissertation.

Indicative Module Content
Each student will undertake additional training in research methods appropriate to their research topic. Students will then conduct a critical literature review, undertake a supervised period of data collection in a research project related to pharmacy and submit a research dissertation.

| Mode of Delivery
Full time mode of delivery with lectures and coursework sessions to underpin key research skills training. Contact hours involve a range of practical and non-practical skills necessary for the acquisition of research skills and generation of research data in an aspect of pharmacy. Directed study includes the review of preliminary specified literature, project planning and preparation of associated documents. Private study includes preparation of the literature review, evaluation of research data, project planning and preparation of thesis.
