Prerequisites for Module
Successful completion of all Stage 3 modules of the MPharm Degree course including the PH4014 Research Methods module (or equivalent as determined by the Head of School of Pharmacy).

Aims of Module
To provide experience in research methodology by the generation of original data. To evaluate, present and defend research results.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

critically appraise past and current literature pertinent to the research topic.

design and perform procedures to acquire novel data.

critically evaluate original research in a written thesis.

demonstrate competence in communication skills including defence of research results.

Indicative Module Content
There is no formal syllabus for this module. The student will carry out a data generating exercise in an aspect of pharmacy.

| Mode of Delivery
Contact hours are achieved through activities which involve a combination of practical and non-practical skills necessary to the acquisition of data. Directed study includes the preliminary reading of the specified supporting material. Private study includes literature search, the preparation of the thesis and presentation of the report.
