Prerequisites for Module

Successful completion of PH3013 and PH4014 or equivalent which may include qualifications approved by RPSGB as being acceptable for entry to the PgDip Overseas Pharmacists Assessment Programme.

Aims of Module

To provide the student with skills, knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical public health relating to pharmacy service development.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Recognise and discuss the principles and practise of pharmaceutical public health in service development and the production of service development bids.
2. Retrieve, evaluate, manipulate, interpret and present data and information associated with pharmaceutical service development.
3. Develop and communicate service development bids related to the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical public health
4. Critically evaluate service development bids related to the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical public health

Indicative Module Content

Health care policy relating to pharmacy, health surveillance, health related data, health needs assessment, epidemiology, application of evidence based practice, systematic review, service development, specification and implementation, economics, business cases, audit, evaluation and governance.
