Aims of Module
To develop competence in the design, execution and reporting of a practice based research project focusing on clinical pharmacy services.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Systematically critique relevant research literature to develop and support a practice based research project.
2 Critically apply a detailed knowledge of the processes of health services research to a practice based research project.
3 Critically evaluate findings from a practice based research project.
4 Communicate the findings of a practice based research project using oral and written presentation skills.
5 Competently defend the findings of a practice based research project.

Indicative Module Content
Health services research methods: research governance, hypothesis generation, survey methods, questionnaires, interviews, sample size and sampling, unstructured interviews and focus groups, statistical analysis. Report writing, oral presentation of research findings. Dissemination strategies for study findings.

Module Delivery
Case-based learning, student led seminars, tutorials, practical sessions, on-line resources. The design, development and implementation of a practice-based research project.

The first grade represents Component 1 (CW1) weighted as major and the second, Component 2 (CW2), weighted as minor. A minimum of Grade D or better is required to pass the module. Non-submission of either component will result in an NS grade.
