Aims of Module
To critically explore approaches to the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critique the appropriateness of available frameworks, toolkits and guidance for health service development.
2 Apply the principles of health needs assessment to the development of evidence-based clinical pharmacy services at a local and national level.
3 Critique evidence based approaches to health service implementation for evidence-based clinical pharmacy services at a local and national level.
4 Apply the principles of service evaluation to evidence-based clinical pharmacy services at a local and national level.
5 Construct plans for the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based clinical pharmacy services at a local and national level.

Indicative Module Content
Application of public health related topics to service development including health needs assessment, clinical governance and evidence based practice. Sustainability; stakeholder roles; outcome measures; short termism versus long termism; resource management; leadership development; planning frameworks; approaches to governance; needs assessment; approaches to evaluation; outcome measures and indicators; strategic working.
