Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the pathophysiology, pharmacology and evidence-based therapeutics of commonly occurring disease states.
2 Analyse patient information to identify pharmacological and therapeutic issues.
3 Synthesise therapeutic strategies in relation to a range of diseases.
4 Manipulate, interpret and apply pharmacological and pharmacokinetic data in varying clinical situations.
5 Integrate and apply practical clinical skills to patients’ clinical needs.

Indicative Module Content
Integration of the scientific principles and clinical skills required of a pharmacist to develop evidence−based therapeutic plans for individual patients in the context of specific disease states including: infectious diseases; malignant disorders; musculo-skeletal diseases; cardiovascular system; gastrointestinal system, respiratory system; pain; immune system; haematology and therapeutic drug monitoring; clinical skills including communication, consultation, data gathering from case notes, physical assessment.
