To integrate scientific principles and clinical skills to evidence-based therapeutics relating to specific body systems including the application of pharmacokinetic principles. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically evaluate the pathophysiology, pharmacology and evidence-based therapeutics of commonly occurring disease states. |
2 | Analyse patient information to identify pharmacological and therapeutic issues. |
3 | Synthesise therapeutic strategies in relation to a range of diseases. |
4 | Manipulate, interpret and apply pharmacological and pharmacokinetic data in varying clinical situations. |
5 | Integrate and apply practical clinical skills to patients’ clinical needs. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Integration of the scientific principles and clinical skills required of a pharmacist to develop evidence−based therapeutic plans for individual patients in the context of specific disease states including: infectious diseases; malignant disorders; musculo-skeletal diseases; cardiovascular system; gastrointestinal system, respiratory system; pain; immune system; haematology and therapeutic drug monitoring; clinical skills including communication, consultation, data gathering from case notes, physical assessment. |
