Aims of Module
To develop necessary skills and comprehension of the research process so as to enable the learner to be prepared and confident in undertaking a Masters level research project and to posess appropriate evaluative skills to facilitate life-long learning.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Indicative Module Content
Research concepts and philosophy; rationale for conducting research. Research governance and ethics. Information retrieval and literature review; sources of information; search strategies. Experimental design and research methodologies used in clinical/pharmacy practice, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmaceutical science. Data analysis and handling. Critical appraisal of published research material.

| Mode of Delivery
Lectures and coursework sessions including practical computer and problem based exercises. Directed learning will consist of directed reading, completion of exercises in preparation for courseworks and online material.
