On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Integrate knowledge and understanding of the legal, professional and ethical requirements that underpin pharmacy practice. |
2 | Apply knowledge and understanding of current pharmacy related policy and practice to promote improved health outcomes. |
3 | Recognise, develop and justify effective drug and non-drug interventions for improving the health of patients and clients. |
4 | Consult and negotiate effectively to develop patient centred health outcomes. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Integration and application of aspects of the practice pharmacy relating to the patient, the medicine and the profession with an emphasis on applying an approach to professional practice that promotes the improvement of health outcomes for individuals and the wider population. Topics include: differentiation between minor illness and major disease including gastrointestinal and respiratory systems, skin, acute pain, womens' health, child health, eyes and ears; health promotion and protection; legislation and professional aspects of pharmacy practice relating to minor illness and health improvement including patient group directions, protocols and other methods of medicines supply; communication, consultation and negotiation skills, pharmaceutical calculations. |
