Aims of Module
To introduce students to the professional role and responsibilities of the midwife within the maternity care team in promoting safe, effective maternity care.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Analyse the role and responsibilities of the professional midwife.
2 Explain key legal and ethical dimensions of contemporary midwifery practice.
3 Appraise the role of evidence informed practice in midwifery care.
4 Analyse effective communication, multidisciplinary and interprofessional team working for midwifery practice.
