Aims of Module
To enable the student to consolidate and further develop their proficiency within the role of the district nurse.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Reflect and critically evaluate their skills knowledge and attributes required to fulfil the role of the specialist practitioner district nurse.
2 Critically evaluate the contemporary pharmacological knowledge base to prescribe safely, appropriately and cost-efficiently within the legislation relevant to the profession.
3 Critically appraise and implement the four pillars of advanced practice to promote district nursing practice.
4 Critically explore, analyse and evaluate an appropriate area of personal development relevant to district nursing.

Indicative Module Content
The student will critically reflect on practice and apply advanced knowledge, skills and attributes required in a contemporary district nursing context including:- Continuing professional development; Personal development planning; Leadership and management; Team working; Interprofessional working; Caseload management; Digital awareness and capability; Project management; Evidence informed decision making; Reflection on professional practice, Professional accountability, V100 prescribing, Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) competency framework.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
The student will normally have undertaken the learning related to the V300 prescribing within the module NUM090 prior to commencing this consolidation module. In this module the student will be required to apply prescribing in the context of district nursing to meet the V100 requirements.
