Aims of Module
To enable the student to critically analyse pathological processes to disease management and the impact of investigations to form an immediate management plan within the remit of advanced practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically analyse the correlation of pathological processes to disease management.
2 Critically appraise efficacy of tests and investigations.
3 Accurately interpret significance of history taking and clinical examination findings to aid clinical decision making in the formulation of a differential diagnosis.
4 Construct and justify immediate management plans for clients.
5 Rationalise your decision making throughout the patient journey.

Indicative Module Content
Interpreting significance of findings; Establishing abnormal from normal; Significance to patient in relation to morbidity and co-morbidity; Consent and capability; Risk verses benefit; Prioritising; Critical thinking and clinical decision making; Management planning; Pathophysiological processes of selected conditions; Fluid, electrolyte and acid-base imaging; Rhythm recognition and 12 lead ECG interpretation; Arterial blood gas and blood profile interpretation; Genetics; Aetiology; Epidemiology.
