Aims of Module | |||

To enable the student to critically analyse pathological processes to disease management and the impact of investigations to form an immediate management plan within the remit of advanced practice. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically analyse the correlation of pathological processes to disease management. |
2 | Critically appraise efficacy of tests and investigations. |
3 | Accurately interpret significance of history taking and clinical examination findings to aid clinical decision making in the formulation of a differential diagnosis. |
4 | Construct and justify immediate management plans for clients. |
5 | Rationalise your decision making throughout the patient journey. |

Interpreting significance of findings; Establishing abnormal from normal; Significance to patient in relation to morbidity and co-morbidity; Consent and capability; Risk verses benefit; Prioritising; Critical thinking and clinical decision making; Management planning; Pathophysiological processes of selected conditions; Fluid, electrolyte and acid-base imaging; Rhythm recognition and 12 lead ECG interpretation; Arterial blood gas and blood profile interpretation; Genetics; Aetiology; Epidemiology. |
