1 | Synthesize the fundamental concepts and principles of public health working. |
2 | Critically analyse the theories, concepts and principles of the health needs assessment of individuals, families and/or communities. |
3 | Explore the causes and consequences of poverty, inequality, vulnerability and social exclusion. |
4 | Examine the theoretical basis of a range of strategies and approaches to maintain and promote public health. |

Students undertaking this module as part of a NMC Specialist Community Public Health Nursing approved pathway are required to negotiate and undertake 3 weeks practice experience which will enable them to understand the context of public health practice in a variety of settings. |
