Aims of Module
To enable the student to develop a crtical understanding of risk management and fitness for work.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Examine the assessment and management of hazards in the workplace.

Critically analyse a risk assessment process.

Critically review health and safety legislation and policy.

Appraise fitness for work strategies.

Critically reflect on the principles of collaboration within an inter-disciplinary team to improve workplace risk management, policy and practice.

Health and Safety legislation; workplace hazards; risk assessment; risk perception; occupational diseases; standards; process; policy; occupational hygiene; occupational epidemiology; health surveillance; drug testing; accidents at work; risk perception; safety culture and behaviour; report writing.

Component 1: Development of a learning Portfolio which demonstrates theory and practice. Students undertaking the non NMC route will develop a theoretical learning portfolio.
